Anything but boring - Jacksonville Senior Portraits

Recently I met up with Aaron and Haley for their Senior Portraits.  To say we had a blast in an understatement.  Both Aaron and Haley wanted sessions but they also wanted some portraits of them as a couple.  So instead of trying to cram two huge sessions into one normal sized one, we booked two sessions on two different days, in two totally unique locations…  best of both worlds!?  Yes I think so!!  Talk about variety and lots of fun!

I had the pleasure of doing a consult with them a few weeks before their session.  I love these because I can really get to know my clients before the big day, which makes it a lot less awkward, and I can pick up on lil details and ideas for our shoot.  During our consult I was asking them who they are… what they are into… and Aaron said… well we are a “little boring”.  Well let me assure you that they are anything but boring!!!  They are smart, passionate, caring, hilarious teenagers… my favorite kind!   They have a love for life, God, their families, and each other… and to say they are inspiring, is well just not enough!!

One of my favorite parts of Senior Sessions is adding in lil touches that make a session so very special.  For Aaron this meant a Spiderman t-shirt, his gorgeous girlfriend, and a Cross and Bible that belonged to his Father.  It was very touching and so special to add a little bit of his Dad to his session. For Haley this meant a favorite book, fabulous clothes, her handsome boyfriend, and an important piece of jewelry. During our consult Haley shared with me about a necklace that is not only fantastic it also helps a family in their church. The necklaces are for sale on etsy and all proceeds go to care for a very special little girl names Riley.  If you know me well, you know I LOVE Etsy, especially when the money can help this family fund much needed medical care for Riley.  Please take a minute to check them out!  etsy.com/shop/rileybugs.  I know your support will be very appreciated!!

Haley and Aaron thank you again for choosing me as your Senior Portrait Photographer!  It has been a lot of fun getting to know you… I know you both will go on to do amazing things!

kelli nichole

What is in a name?  As some of you have noticed photographic memory has recently gone through an identity change…  I am now officially Kelli Nichole Photography!!!  I am really excited to share this news with you and to show off my new evolving identity  : )

I have been wanting to change for a while, but never had the guts!  Its not that I don’t love photographic memory, because I do, but back when I first decided I wanted to be a photographer I couldn’t find another one on the web… now there are dozens of photographic memory (ies)!   One thing I know…  there will never be another Kelli Nichole, and even if there were, she can’t be me!  When choosing a name and branding style I wanted something fun, fresh, authentic, and totally me!  I thought about everything I am called…
Sunshine- by my Nonnie
Sissy- by my Mom and Brother
Fräulein – by my Dad
Toogie, Monkey, Rat – by my hubby
Kelli Kins- by my aunts
Kell – by my friends
And Keddie – by my sweet Gavin

As a child I begged to my Mom to change my name to sparkle  : )  It was during a Rainbow Bright phase!! haha    I considered Kelli Nichole… but I was on the fence because of its unique spelling, and I worried how would people find me?  While attending the Holli True workshop a few weeks ago I sat and listed to Holli talk about how important it is to be true to yourself and if you are not happy with you name, your branding, your focus, and you identity as an artist… it is time to change!  So here I am, thrilled with the direction my business and headed and in a way starting over.  What better way to start over than to go back to my first true name… The one my parents picked for me 28 years ago.    So Kelli Nichole it is.

I love my name, I love this gift God has given me and where it has taken me, I love my clients, friends, and family who have been my biggest cheerleaders over the last few years!  I hope you will join me in the next and newest phase of this amazing journey called photography!

Be Inspired. ~ My workshop experience.

Let me start by saying…. I was very anti workshop.  I have seen quite a few come and go in my area, and from what I have read attendees leave, unhappy, defeated, and sad they spent there hard earned money so frivolously.  So why did I, the anti workshop girl, fly across the country to attend a workshop?  I had a feeling?  Yes, I had a feeling… and I am so pleased to say, that the Be Inspired workshop created by Holli True was everything and more than I could have hoped for.

It has been one week as of tomorrow since I came home from Oregon.   I feel inspired and ready to take on new challenges.  I am ready to be more authentic with my art and start doing the things that I really love.  I am ready to put passion back in the areas of my business that have been lacking and I am ready to make changes I have put off for fear of failing and just the lack of knowledge to make it happen.  When I say the Be Inspired workshop is inspiring… I mean it…  but lots of things can be inspiring… as you will learn from Holli herself… it was so much more than that.  It was practical, real life knowledge that Holli shared with us.  She opened up her bag of tricks and let us not just peek inside, but jump right in.  She taught us things that just made sense… ideas and practical applications to things I have been dancing around but couldn’t quite reach…  she answered every question I threw at her…  and when I followed up with, “but why” she answered that too.  She showed me things like posing, workflow, editing, products, pricing, branding, creating my style, and so much more.  I learned things that I can guarantee you, I will be using for the rest of my career.  That is really something.

I wish I could put into words all of the things that made this trip so fabulous.  However I am not a writer…  so let me try to sum this up simply.  I was anti workshop, and now I whole-heartedly recommend the Holli True workshop to anyone who is looking to take the next step in your business.  For me it was like photography therapy.  Really.

I would like to thank Holli and Jeff for this wonderful opportunity.  I know you put a lot of effort and heart into our weekend together and you really pulled it off.  A special thank you to all the sponsor and especially Showit for the amazing prize!  To the girls of Class 01…  you quickly became a piece of me forever.  I will never forget sharing those days with you.  I loved learning from each and everyone of you and I cant wait to see where we all grow from here.  Period.

Celia's Senior Potraits ~ St. Augustine Senior Photography

What do you get when you mix a gorgeous girl and fabulous lighting??  Ummm... a super fun and fantastic Senior Session!  Celia and her Mom contacted me months and months ago about shooting a session either here in Jacksonville or possibly in her home town near Sarasota FL.  I was so excited to hear that they were coming to town this month and we were able to finally meet after months of talking about her session!  We hit the road and went to St. Augustine to take some fun shots to commemorate Celia's Senior Year.  With the help of my wonderful assistant for the day Alexa (Celia's cousin and one of my all time favorite Rep's from last year) we were able to shoot the afternoon away hitting up some of my favorite spots and of course getting lots of stares and a few random comments from the other St. Aug visitors!   : )   Always fun!

Celia and Terri... thank you so much for choosing me to capture such a milestone in your families life!  Hope our paths cross again soon either in Jax or West Florida!!  Best of luck in Gator land next year Celia!!

Ella's Beautiful Baby Session ~ Jacksonville FL Child Photographer

I can't believe it has almost been two years since I first met Ella!  I photographed her every three months her first year of life and even had the pleasure of photographing her first birthday party!  It has been almost a year since I have seen her last and boy she has grown!  With her second birthday right around the corner she is full of energy and only has two speeds.... go and... go  : )    This age can be one of the most challenging to capture, but the reward of getting those perfect shots feels so good!   I should also note that Ella won my Beautiful Baby contest a few months ago...  It is obvious why, she is absolutely precious!
